Here
is a sample of some of the many possible applications
for the Ground Transient Terminator. 9 Corporation can
also custom design the GTT so that is can be used
in almost any OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) or
aftermarket application. If you would like help
understanding exactly how the GTT can fit your needs,

Extended Stay
America Hotel Chain was plagued by false fire alarms.
Power surges and lightning strikes in their area caused
intense ground transient activity, degrading the
components in their alarm panels to the extent of
causing them to malfunction, or fail altogether. Not
only was this costing Extended Stay money in fines and
repair services, but it was inconveniencing their
guests, and compromising their personal safety. Imagine
what would happen if a fire occurred and a
transient-damaged fire alarm system failed to operate.
Extended Stay America did, and In September of 2002,
began retrofitting the Ground Transient Terminator into
the alarm control panels of every one of their hotels
nationwide. Now this easy, reliable, and affordable
solution is helping Extended Stay to guarantee safe,
secure, and peaceful accommodations for their guests,
and saving them money at the same time!
DTV USA
DTV USA, a digital television broadcasting company in
Connecticut, was concerned about the disruptions in
service they experienced every time a heavy storm passed
through their area. Transient activity is believed to
account for 92% of all electrically-related downtime.
Once DTV realized that their problems were due mostly to
ground transients, they installed the Ground Transient
Terminator at their ISP’s and broadcasting stations.
Shortly after doing so, they were hit by 2 heavy storms,
but their systems never missed a beat. John Dillon, CEO
of DTV USA says their Transient Terminators are “worth
their weight in gold”. Transient Terminator Technology
improved their uptime, and the bottom line.
Lowell
is a precision manufacturing company that employs
advanced technology to engineer and manufacture the
finest electronic equipment racks and distributed audio
products available. Lowell audio/visual systems are used
in stadiums, arenas, airports, offices, schools, and
buildings of all kinds. The quality of electricity
running to this equipment directly affects their
performance. Transient voltages from surges and spikes
compromise the power quality in buildings. Recognizing
this fact, Lowell turned to Transient Terminator
Technology for the solution. Soon, Lowell will be
incorporating a custom-made version of the Ground
Transient Terminator directly into their OEM designs,
helping them to produce the highest quality audio/visual
systems available, and lending them a significant edge
over their competitors’ products!
Amemco
A maintenance reliability
engineering company, Amemco specializes in lightning and
power surge protection. Exxon-Mobile came to them with a
problem they were having with one of their offshore
oil-drilling platforms. These concrete and metal
platforms, surrounded by miles of water, are a prime
target for lightning. They already had surge suppression
devices in place on the live and neutral lines of their
power panels, but they had no ground line protection. As
a result, transient voltages caused by these lightning
strikes frequently damaged their industrial controls and
crashed their electronic systems. Amemco installed the
Ground Transient Terminator in the platform’s power
panels. 2 years later, Exxon-Mobile reports that “all
the equipment that previously has been affected by
lightning… is still operational and showing no signs of
damage”. Transient Terminator Technology proved to be
the missing piece to their power quality puzzle.
This is just a sample of possible applications for the
Transient Terminator Technology. If you would like help
understanding exactly how the GTT can fit your needs,
our applications engineers are available to assist you.
